Rail Planning

A key part of the Public Transport Authority’s Route Utilisation Strategy  (RUS) is to move people where they want to go, as effectively as possible.

Using the RUS, METRONET’s rail planning will look at how each project fits with Perth’s broader public transport needs and find ways to optimise the existing rail system’s capacity.

As part of this, the PTA’s Station Access Strategy approach will inform how METRONET projects can integrate with the community and what is needed to encourage people to connect to future stations by walking, cycling, bus, drop off and finally, driving and parking.

Rail infrastructure projects will mostly be delivered by the PTA.
