The level of state intervention and planning authority:
Planning control areas are development control focused and are intended to consolidate the development approvals process under the existing planning documents, with the WA Planning Commission as the approval authority for any development applications.
Redevelopment Areas provide for a broader range of development and place making to plan and deliver place based outcomes, but does not in itself change the planning authority.
Redevelopment Schemes are prepared and gazetted following a Redevelopment Area being established that will maintain MRA’s role within the Redevelopment Area but also transfer the planning authority for the area to the with the MRA.
