METRONET Construction Industry Briefing wrap

  • 26 February 2019

More than 200 people from the construction industry made their way to the Hyatt Regency to hear from the Public Transport Authority on upcoming construction packages.

At the Industry Briefing Executive Director, Major Projects Ross Hamilton provided an overview and scope on the Bayswater Station Upgrade and Denny Avenue Level Crossing Removal projects.

Principal Project Director Kevin Guppy outlined the procurement method, confirming that Bayswater Station Upgrade will be a competitive alliance and the Denny Avenue Level Crossing Removal project will be procured through two design and construction packages, one for rail and the other for the road and civic works.

Kevin also discussed that in the coming months a number of Consultancy Panels will be established to support the Public Transport Authority in delivering current and future METRONET rail projects.

The Bayswater Station Upgrade Request for Proposal is expected to be released in March 2019. With the Denny Avenue Level Crossing Removal project Request for Tender following mid year.

Early tender advice will be released ahead of all tenders going to market.

All procurement, including early tender advice, will be released on TendersWA.

To support local businesses that work in or support the construction industry, informal networking opportunities were held before the briefing.

Local businesses are encouraged to complete the Construction Capability Register, which will be provided to shortlisted bidders during the competitive tender phase and again after contract award.

This register does not guarantee work, but will help the successful tenderers in completing their WA Industry Participation Strategy and maximise the local skills, services and experience on offer.
