18 new staff – including additional railcar drivers, transit officers, customer service officers, and communication systems personnel – will support operations at the new METRONET Lakelands Station.
The station is a new addition to the Mandurah Line and will service the growing Lakelands community, taking pressure off Mandurah and Warnbro stations. It will feature an entry building, pedestrian overpass, two platforms, kiss-and-ride facilities, a bus interchange, a 400-bay car park, and cycling facilities.
Recently the Lakelands Station Project celebrated key milestones including completion of the main station roof, bus interchange steel framework being built, platforms ready for tiling, and completion of platform canopy rooves.
Transperth will begin community consultation for the new station's bus network, inviting feedback on proposed routes, maps, and timetables closer to the opening date.
The $72 million project, which is supporting about 200 jobs during project works, was jointly funded by the State and Commonwealth Governments.
