Gnarla Biddi’s Year in Review

  • 17 March 2020

METRONET’s Aboriginal Engagement Strategy, Gnarla Biddi, has celebrated its first year with the release of its Annual Report.

The report lays out the how the Strategy has strived to achieve positive outcomes across its five engagement streams of Noongar Cultural Recognition, Noongar Cultural Input into Place Making, Aboriginal Procurement, Aboriginal Employment and Land Access and Sites Management.

Achievements for the year included an increase in Aboriginal employees across the METRONET Office, the rollout of Cultural Awareness Training to staff, and the completion of Noongar Cultural Context Documents for METRONET projects.

With a number of projects heading into construction this year, there will be new opportunities for local Aboriginal businesses to gain work on METRONET projects. Businesses wanting to be involved are encouraged to complete our Construction Business Register.

More information on Gnarla Biddi and its outcomes are available on the Strategy’s page.
