Community help shape the vision around future Morley Station precinct

  • 9 July 2020

The future Morley Station, part of the Morley-Ellenbrook Line, will give people living in Morley, Embleton and the northern section of Bayswater more transport options and provide new opportunities for living and working within walking distance of the station.

Only a three-minute train ride from Bayswater Station and a 15-minute journey to Perth, Morley Station will be built within the Tonkin Highway median at the Broun Avenue bridge. High-frequency bus services will link the station to the Morley Galleria, surrounding businesses and local community.

The Morley Station Precinct Concept Master Plan will set the design vision and high-level roadmap for future development around the new station.
Community input will provide local knowledge and insights to help inform the development of the plan.

In April 2020, we asked the community what they thought the future should look like around Morley Station, and 262 people answered. Green spaces, cafes and walking connections were highlighted as the top features that respondents wanted to see.

A Community Reference Group was formed to participate in a collaborative design process. The group has met twice already and will meet once more before the plan is released and provided to the City of Bayswater to lead the next planning stage.  The Morley-Ellenbrook Line will connect Perth’s growing north-east suburbs through a new 21km rail line, and will create around 3,000 jobs during construction.

The project will be delivered through four works packages, including through works on the New Bayswater Station project and Main Roads’ Tonkin Gap Project and Associated Works . The design and build contract has been shortlisted to two proponents and is expected to be awarded later this year.
