In a huge boost for connectivity and safe travel, all lanes on Nicholson Road in Canning Vale are being upgraded and are getting their finishing touches ready for the new Nicholson Road Station.
Lane upgrades at Nicholson Road
A signalised intersection on Nicholson Road at Panama Street, a two-lane right turn onto Panama Street and a signalised pedestrian crossing between Vostan Road and Canna Drive are all part of the upgrades.
The overall benefits will be reduced travel times, improved safety, and enhanced public transport, vehicle and pedestrian connectivity to homes, businesses and the new Nicholson Road Station.
Project Construction Manager Aaron Beecroft explained that upgrading a road close to residences and businesses came with its challenges.
“The roadworks and necessary road and driveway closures were carefully phased to ensure the community could maintain access to businesses operating in the area,” Aaron said.
“This meant the journey via the detour route sometimes took a little longer but once complete, the general community and local businesses benefit through safer and better-connected roads and pathways.”
Local business operator, Manpinder Singh of India Grocer agrees on the overall benefits.
“Many of our customers live locally and they will now be able to safely cross Nicholson Road at the traffic lights to shop or visit their dentist,” Manpinder said

All lanes on Nicholson Road are expected to re-open by the end of the year. Panama Street and Tulloch Way at Nicholson Road will be used to connect passengers to the new station when it opens in mid-2025.
