New stations shaping up

The METRONET Thornlie-Cockburn Link Project is at its peak of construction with over 1,000 workers on site daily.

At Ranford Road Station, structural steel, roofing and external cladding has been installed. A variety of services are also being fitted including security and passenger information systems.

The bus interchange, short term parking, car parks and cycle storage facilities have been built, with landscaping planned for the wetter months of next year.

At Nicholson Road Station, the main structural steel and architectural sunshades on the eastern side of the overpass are in place and the station’s design is coming to life.

Works in the area around the station are also ramping up as teams prepare to lay asphalt in the bus interchange, short-term parking areas. Public art installation and landscaping will be take place next year.

At Thornlie Station, structural steel has been erected for the lift shafts and the new overpass that will enable passengers to access each platform. Cladding, glazing and tiling works are also underway to prepare for this upgraded station to once again provide public transport service to passengers when the station reopens in mid-2025.
