Works

Standard work hours are Monday to Saturday, 7am–7pm, and any out-of-hours works are indicated below. All works will follow approved noise and traffic management plans, and every effort will be made to minimise impacts. For questions about project works, please email info@metronet.wa.gov.au or call 9326 3666.


Works on Yelverton Drive for Cale Street level crossing – detour around hospital - 21 March to late-July 2024

A detour is required to enable Cale Street level crossing works on the southern side of the rail line. Works will be carried out at the intersection of Yelverton Drive and Centennial Place. Traffic will be detoured via Centennial Place and Clayton Street. Access to the hospital from Yelverton Drive will be modified during this period.

Works

  • Removing existing and installing new drainage
  • Changing traffic signals
  • Upgrading the road layout to cater for the Cale Street level crossing
  • Building new road pavement, footpaths and kerbing
  • Increased truck and light vehicle movements
  • Access for vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained
  • Detours and traffic management will be in place

Multi-Storey car park (until mid-2024)

  • Intermittent works between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Saturday (adjacent businesses and residents will be advised of any out-of-hours works).
  • Impacts to station parking during works. Parking has been reduced from 740 bays to approximately 190 bays.
  • Traffic management and lane closures may be required during deliveries of large building components and machinery, but every effort will be made to keep roads open.
  • Vibrations, noise, and dust will be managed.

Out-of-hours works

Out-of-hours works are required to pour concrete and build a protection screen at the multi-storey car park construction site.

  • Pours are scheduled for various dates during March, between 3am and 7am. These dates are as follows:
    • Tuesday 5
    • Wednesday 6
    • Monday 11
    • Thursday 14
    • Friday 15
    • Tuesday 19
    • Thursday 21
    • Monday 25
    • Wednesday 27
    • Friday 29
  • Protection screen works between 8pm Tuesday 19 March and 5am Wednesday 20 March
  • Dates are subject to change due to weather conditions and other unforeseen factors
  • Operation of equipment including concrete pump, trucks and light towers

During the warmer months, all works on site will begin at 6am and finish at 5pm from Monday to Saturday to reduce the risk of heat stress on workers. Every effort will be made to minimise the use of machinery and equipment between 6am and 7am.


Rail Corridor

  • Intermittent works in and around the rail corridor between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Saturday (adjacent businesses and residents will be advised of any out-of-hours works).
  • heavy machinery, equipment and workers accessing the area
  • temporary road and path closures may be required to bring equipment to site
  • Vibrations, noise, and dust will be managed.

English oak tree relocation (ongoing)

Partial closure of Railway Parade/Cale Street for work on the new Cale Street intersection (Monday 15 January to Friday 24 May 2024 – Dates may be subject to change)

Railway Parade will be closed at the Cale Street intersection and detours will be in place. The closure is to enable the first phase of road works for the new Cale Street level crossing.

Works

  • Out-of-hours works are required to set up the closure of the Railway Parade and Cale Street intersection between midnight and 7am on Monday 15 January
  • Removing existing asphalt and building new road pavement and drainage
  • Upgrading the road layout
  • Utilities relocation and upgrades
  • Excavation
  • Access for residents, businesses and pedestrians will be maintained
  • Detours and traffic management will be in place as required (see map below)
  • Machinery noise
  • Increased truck and light vehicle movements
  • Noise, dust and vibration will be managed
