Forrestfield-Airport Link: New car park frees up space for future development

  • 11 September 2018

A 1200-bay multi-deck car park at the future Forrestfield Station will balance the need for passenger parking with the opportunity to create connected communities within walking distance of the station.

The car park will be built on land bordered by Maida Vale Road and Ibis Place and will allow approximately eight hectares of land to be made available for future development after the station is open.  The new design will also improve access as passengers will now be able to park within 300m of the station’s entrance.

This solution supports the City of Kalamunda’s Forrestfield North District Structure Plan.  The METRONET team is liaising with the City to determine suitable density levels and plans for mixed-use development which maximise the State Government’s investment in the area.

Construction of the car park will begin next year and will be ready for when first trains run on the Forrestfield Line.

More information on the Forrestfield-Airport Link project can be found on the project page.
