First structural concrete pour for the new Bayswater Station

  • 20 September 2021

In a significant milestone for the project and Bayswater community, the first structural concrete pour for the station bridge has been completed.

Despite Perth recording its wettest July in 20 years, the team worked hard to complete the pouring of 70 cubic meters – which is the approximate weight of ten buses. The pour forms part of the base that will support the pillars - which spans 33.2 metres in length, 1.75 metres in height, and 1.2 metres in width.

The concrete pour is the first ‘out-of-ground’ superstructure activity for the project. Works so far have mostly been below-ground foundations, such as piling. Now that concrete pouring has started, the new station is starting to come up out of the ground, revealing the scale of the project.
