Often rail projects mean changes somewhere on the network far from where the actual project is taking place.
For the Forrestfield-Airport Link, that means track works between Claremont and Swanborne stations to allow trains to turn there.
For Claremont residents this means a whole range of benefits, such as:
· An upgraded station to meet Disability Discrimination Act requirements making it fully accessible for passengers with mobility difficulties;
· Direct access to the Forrestfield-Airport Link, without having to change at Perth Station; and
· A five minute service frequency in peak times between Claremont and Bayswater Station.
In the coming weeks a design services tender will be released for the track work and station design, which will include extending the island platform to accommodate six car sets.
The upgrade will support the LandCorp Claremont on the Park residential development within the station precinct area.
The works are expected to be completed when the Forrestfield-Airport Link is completed.
