METRONET made its debut at the 2019 Perth Royal Show giving show goers a glimpse inside the Forrestfield-Airport Link tunnels and information on all other projects.
Since the tunnel boring machines (TBM) are making their way to Bayswater, we couldn’t get one for the Show. Instead there was a mini scale version on display against a massive screen that showed footage inside the tunnels.
Thousands of people visited the stand over the week, with overwhelming positive feedback across the METRONET program. Some stand out moments were:
- The kids who were really excited about tunnelling and the TBM
- An Ellenbrook student who let all his friends know about the new line and is looking forward to not having to catch the bus to university
- Someone saying it was the best showbag on offer
- A high school student who did a Morley-Ellenbrook Line case study as part of a Transperth education session who was very excited about METRONET – and knew all about transit-orientated developments.
