Denny Avenue Level Crossing Removal a step closer

  • 17 September 2019

A six-week request for tender to construct the rail component of the Denny Avenue Level Crossing Removal has been launched.

Following an expression of interest phase, Downer EDI, Decmil and John Holland have been approached to provide tender submissions.

Denny Avenue is the first in METRONET’s level crossing removal program. With the boom gates down an average of one minute and 44 seconds per session and a total average closure of three hours and seven minutes per day, this crossing was prioritised due to road users risking their safety by crossing the tracks while the boom gates were lowering or already down.

The successful tenderer will be required to raise more than 800m of track and associated infrastructure to make way for the new road underpass at Davis Road. They will also need to demonstrate how they can design and build the infrastructure with minimal disruption to the rail network and surrounding roads.

Once complete, the project will reduce congestion and help revitalise the Kelmscott town centre.

The road & civic infrastructure package tender is expected to open in November.
