It’s a big day for the METRONET Yanchep Rail Extension Project, with the first 2.7 kilometres of the 14.5 kilometre extension now laid.
The first tracks were laid within the Ningana Bushland area, which is located between the future Eglinton and Yanchep stations.
The Yanchep Rail Extension is transformational for Perth’s north, and will connect the growing community with a 49-minute journey from Yanchep to the Perth CBD.
Structural steel framework is well underway across the three new stations of Alkimos, Eglinton and Yanchep, and four escalators were recently installed at Alkimos which will connect the platform and concourse levels.
The rail extension also includes three green bridges that are set to provide safe crossing for fauna in Yanchep.
