Live testing for METRONET C-series begins

  • 23 December 2022

The first six-car C-series train has begun initial testing along the Joondalup Line as part of the METRONET WA Railcar Program.

A number of tests will be completed on braking systems, loads and passenger comfort before passengers step aboard in late-2023.

The train was relocated to Nowergup Depot earlier this year, with testing beginning between Butler and Clarkson stations last night and continuing over the next 12 months between midnight and 4am.

Live testing on the network follows static and high-voltage testing at the Bellevue Railcar Manufacturing Facility, with the return of railcar manufacturing to Western Australia.

After almost 30 years, locally manufactured trains will operate along the network – creating more local employment and supply opportunities in WA.
