Robinson Road level crossing in Bellevue is set to close to make way for the Bellevue Railcar Depot.
The Depot is part of the METRONET WA Railcar Program, providing necessary maintenance and stabling for trains on the future Airport and Morley-Ellenbrook lines and the Midland Line.
Traffic modelling in the area indicates that closing the road is not anticipated to have major impacts on traffic flow in the area, with vehicles expected to use the Lloyd Street underpass instead.
The closure is needed for public safety, as trains will be frequently entering the Depot.
The project is working with Main Roads WA to address any immediate impacts, and the State Government is working on a longer-term strategy to meet future travel demands around Midland. More information on the closure is available on our fact sheet.
The Railcar Program is delivering 246 new C-series railcars for Perth’s growing public transport network, and has brought railcar manufacturing back to WA.
