Pedestrians and cyclists commuting within and between the Armadale and Byford town centres will soon have a brand new safe and well-connected travel route with an 8km shared path set to be installed.

Built as part of the Byford Rail Extension Project, the new path will run along the western side of the rail line, will improve connectivity for the local community and provide an easy transition between cycling, walking, and catching public transport.

Two new pedestrian bridges will also be built to give the local community easy access to the new path. Located on Larsen Road in Byford and Armadale Road in Armadale, the bridges will include screening to maximise the privacy of nearby residential properties, public art, landscaping, and lighting for improved safety.

• Larsen Road pedestrian bridge: will be located opposite Marri Grove Primary School. Families living on the eastern side of the rail line will be able to use the bridge to walk or cycle to school. For those living on the western side of the rail line, the bridge will provide convenient access to George Street and the nearby retail and business area. Public art for the bridge will be created in partnership with students from Marri Grove Primary School.
