Teamwork makes the dream work – and that’s certainly been the case on Romeo Road Bridge.

One of nine road-over-rail bridges being built as part of the METRONET Yanchep Rail Extension Project, Romeo Road Bridge is located between Butler Station and the new Alkimos Station. The bridge will provide a vital east to west connection from the future Mitchell Freeway Extension to Marmion Avenue. 

The bridge is quickly taking shape and as Senior Project Manager Stephen Nicolay explains, teamwork has been central to overcoming challenges along the way. 

“Throughout the build the team has faced a number of challenges such as working in a narrow corridor with a confined laydown area for materials, and the assembly and installation of formworks. Limited access due to overhead powerlines has also been a challenge,” Stephen said.

Measuring in at 42 metres wide, 6 metres high and 25 metres long, the bridge will be one of the widest in the project and will accommodate two lanes in each direction with a westbound left-turning lane.

Once complete, the bridge will be handed to the Mitchell Freeway Extension team to complete road works that tie into the bridge.
