Safety testing Yanchep's green bridges

  • 6 October 2022

The project team on the METRONET Yanchep Rail Extension Project have been busy building and checking the three green bridges that are set to provide safe crossings for fauna in Yanchep.

In preparation for the concrete bridge deck pours, safety testing was conducted to ensure the structures will be safe for animals (and the emergency vehicles) that will use them.

“We’ve completed low resistance tests to ensure the earthing system has been installed to activate circuit protective devices, and prevent any exposed conductive parts reaching dangerous voltage levels if there is a fault with the electrical parts near the bridge,” NEWest Alliance Earthing and Bonding Engineer Andrew Tay explained.

Concrete pours for the three bridge decks are now complete, moving the project one step closer to providing a protected passage for animals moving between the highly vegetated area at Ningana Bushland.
