We are seeking your input on the new public spaces that will be created around the new elevated Beckenham Station as part of the ongoing METRONET Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project.
During the early planning phase, community feedback was sought on design principles for the public open space created by removing six level crossings and replacing them with elevated rail between Victoria Park and Beckenham.
The proposed designs are all about connecting people, ensuring safety in our community, making lively spaces, providing easing movement opportunities, and looking after our environment.
These ideas were gathered by talking to the community and people involved in the project, and we've included valuable suggestions from local government, community groups and everyone in the community.
The proposed designs for the public spaces around Beckenham Station include:
• a fenced dog park
• a vegetated water basin incorporating water-sensitive urban design
• a park for wheels-based activities such as a BMX track.
• an outdoor gym for exercise
• open lawns with seating, BBQ facilities, and shelters for picnics.
We’re now seeking your feedback on these designs, have your say here.
The public comment period for the Beckenham section of the Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project is now open and closes 5PM 12 October.
