Construction started on Karel Avenue upgrade

  • 14 August 2019

Construction has begun on upgrades to the Karel Avenue and Roe Highway interchange, including widening and lengthening the Karel Avenue bridge.

These works will facilitate construction of the Thornlie-Cockburn Link by extending the Karel Avenue bridge across the freight railway line located immediately south of Roe Highway.

The Thornlie-Cockburn Link will support growth and accessibility across the southern suburbs by providing direct access to employment, sporting and recreation opportunities at Canning Vale, Cannington Strategic Metropolitan Centre, Burswood Peninsula and the eastern CBD.

Works are expected to be completed in late 2020.
