Next week’s Tokyo Olympics isn’t the only major track event to get excited about as Perth celebrates the completion of tracklaying on the Forrestfield-Airport Link!
Made up of more than 27,000 sleepers and 2,400 tonnes of Australian-made steel, the project has now ticked off laying track from the to-do list.
With 16km of track in place, the team will continue other works to make the line train-ready, including installing the overhead conductor rail and overhead line equipment.
There’s also been other celebrations along the line with construction complete on High Wycombe Station’s 1200-bay, three-level car park.
All three new stations – High Wycombe, Airport Central, and Redcliffe – are now in the final fit-out stage and will be open when the line becomes operational in the first half of 2022.
