Full steam ahead for Western Australia’s newest city centre

  • 6 September 2018

The Western Australian Planning Commission has given the green light for WA’s newest city centre located on the future Yanchep Rail Extension. DevelopmentWA's (formerly Landcorp) Alkimos Central is a transit oriented development with a centrally located train and bus station.

It will provide a focal point for the creation of up to 13,500 local jobs needed for a projected population of 60,000 people who will one day live in the Alkimos-Eglinton District.

Located on 212 hectares east of Marmion Ave, at the heart of the 25km coastal corridor between Joondalup and Yanchep, Alkimos Central will provide key services, a social hub, new residential options, a transport hub, as well as health, recreational and entertainment amenities.

Initial earthworks for the train station are expected to start in mid-2019.

Works for the stage 1 of Alkimos Central are planned to start shortly after METRONET works are underway.
