We say goodbye to our hardworking gantry cranes – Victor, Becky, Kediny and Yira. Since December 2023, these giants have worked tirelessly day and night to install precast concrete structures along the Armadale Line as part of METRONET Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project.
The gantry cranes have been the backbone of the project, handling heavy lifts of 140 tonnes and installing more than 60 per cent of the over 1,000 precast elements to create four sections of elevated rail.
Custom-built and commissioned from Italy, the gantry cranes helped minimise the project's construction footprint and retain more trees and vegetation along the rail corridor.
Thank you, Victor, Becky, Kediny, and Yira, for a job well done building Perth’s first elevated rail, which will have a lasting impact – improving traffic flow and creating new, versatile public spaces for the community under the elevated rail.
