Going, going, gone!

Demolition on the final five properties along Third Avenue and Railway Avenue to make way for the Denny Avenue Level Crossing Removal project is complete.

The soon to be vacant land will become the Public Transport Authority's temporary site works compound, and will later become the realigned Third Avenue.

These buildings follow the demolition of 8 Third Avenue, which occurred in early March.

Procurement has also started with expressions of interest being sought for the construction of the project.

The works will be delivered through two design and construct contracts – one for the rail and bridge portion of the works, and the other for the road and civic infrastructure work.

The split of the package acknowledges the different risk profiles of the works required. Both contractors will work collaboratively with the Public Transport Authority to manage the interface between the works.

Removing the crossing will improve the safety of people walking, cycling and driving in Kelmscott and surrounding suburbs, as well as reducing road congestion and revitalising the local community.

If you’re local to the Kelmscott community, we recommend joining our Community Facebook Group where we will keep you up to date on the progress.
