High response for High Wycombe

  • 26 June 2020

In May we asked City of Kalamunda residents and businesses to help choose the name of their new station and now the votes are in!

More than 3,500 votes were cast in the community survey with three quarters of respondents opting for High Wycombe to become the permanent name for the Forrestfield-Airport Link’s terminus station.

The $1.86 billion project will connect Perth’s eastern suburbs to the CBD via Bayswater, with new stations at Redcliffe, Airport Central and High Wycombe.

Construction of a 1,200-bay multi-deck car park at the future High Wycombe Station is now underway. West Australian company Melchor is constructing the car park which will support 60 local jobs. Other works at the station continue to progress including the fit-out of escalators, lifts and station rooms plus the final touches on the station’s main roof and skylights.

Trains are expected to start running in late 2021, at which point the line will be rebadged as the Airport Line.
