On 1 August 2018, Infrastructure Australia formally accepted the final documents for the Thornlie-Cockburn Link and Yanchep Rail Extension.
While the METRONET Office has been working very closely with Infrastructure Australia on these projects for the past year, this means the projects are now officially within the Infrastructure Australia evaluation system. MOre information on this can be found on the process can be found on the Infrastructure Australia website.
This is an exciting milestone for the projects as we seek to formally secure Commonwealth funding for these strategic projects.
The Yanchep Rail Extension will connect the future strategic centre to the rail, and in the long term will see the area become an alternative business and employment centre to the Perth CBD.
The Thornlie-Cockburn Link will be the first connection between two existing lines to improve public transport services in our southern suburbs.
Procurement for the main construction contracts will begin in the coming month, with contract award expected to be in mid-2019, and construction beginning in late 2019.
