Following a review of the existing and planned cycling infrastructure as part of the Yanchep Rail Extension, the project will focus on connecting pedestrians and cyclists from local communities to the new stations.
Since the Yanchep Rail Extension was announced in 2017, new projects have come online in the northern suburbs that include new cycle paths, such as the Mitchell Freeway Extension to Romeo Road and future plans to extend even further north.
As such, the shared path will be moved to the new freeway extension, rather than along the rail line, and complements the path along Marmion Avenue. Doing this removes duplication of shared paths in the area and allows better connections within the wider community.
We will continue to work with the community and stakeholders, to ensure cycling and pedestrian connections service the needs of the local community.
