Ever wanted to be part of transforming Perth’s transport network?

An Infrastructure Ready Skill Set TAFE program launched today and will partner with industry to increase opportunities for jobseekers to be part of Western Australia's transport infrastructure boom.

With seven METRONET projects under construction, amongst many other infrastructure projects underway, it is essential a skilled workforce is in place to help deliver what is a record pipeline of works for Perth.

Eligible participants will take part in a free four-week intensive training course at TAFE campuses across Perth and gain an inside look at some of METRONET’s major construction projects including the Bellevue Railcar facility, Yanchep Rail Extension, Thornlie-Cockburn Link and the Denny Avenue Level Rail Crossing Removal.

The course will equip participants with basic measurement and calculation skills relevant to construction with a focus on safe work practices. Participants will also learn skills to operate small plant and equipment used on construction projects.

Contractors will be provided with incentives to employ and retain program participants.

People interested in signing up to the course can register their interest by emailing irp@dtwd.wa.gov.au.
