Preparing for passengers at Nicholson Road Station

  • 22 August 2023

A section of Nicholson Road in Canning Vale is set to be modified to get ready for station access via Panama Street and Tulloch Way, as part of works to build the METRONET Thornlie-Cockburn Link.

To ensure passengers can safely and easily access Nicholson Road Station and surrounding areas, the team are delivering a number of upgrades in the area. These include new signalised intersections and pedestrian crossings, two new bus turning lanes from Nicholson Road into Panama Street, and resurfacing and reconstructing Panama Street.

The community have been top-of-mind during planning for these works and a staged program will help minimise disruption.

Temporary lane closures will be put in place to support the works and from September, traffic barriers will be set up to create safe work areas. Road and path users are encouraged to follow the traffic management measures and signage to safely navigate through the roadworks.

Access to all businesses in the area will be available throughout the roadworks.

The future Nicholson Road Station will be a busy hub with more than 2,300 passengers moving through the area daily. It will include seven bus stands at a new bus interchange, passenger drop off facilities and 1,000 car parking bays.
