With 15 years' experience under his belt, Senior Project Engineer Andrew Crew is using his skills to deliver three new stations for the METRONET Yanchep Rail Extension Project.
Working with people to solve technical problems is Andrew’s cup of tea and his daily duties include overseeing shop drawing approvals and offsite fabrication, as well as managing design queries.
Andrew also conducts inspections for permanent and temporary structural works, whilst coordinating crane lifts into the station precincts.
“I get a lot of satisfaction from contributing to unique buildings like our stations, which stand the test of time,” Andrew said.
“At the moment, I’m working across all three stations and focusing on delivering the scope of structural works.”
No job is without its challenges and in the structural space of the project, Andrew explains that staging the station concourse decks are the trickiest element to date.
“To ensure works are successful, we are undertaking numerous staging and planning reviews in developing the design of the concourse construction. This involves coordinating different elements such as precast shell-beams, pre-stressed floor planks, several stages of in-situ concrete and onsite utility service installation,” Andrew said.
When Andrew is not managing the stations works, he can be found playing basketball or strumming his favourite tunes on the guitar.
