Soaring new heights at Airport Central Station

  • 10 November 2020

The fit out of Airport Central Station continues to progress with the eaves of the main atrium now in place.

Located 17m underground, the station will create a seamless journey for passengers to and from the airport terminals via the Skybridge.

The atrium roof takes inspiration from aircraft contours. A suspended art installation created by local artist and designer Anne Neil, in collaboration with Noongar artist John Walley, will make an impressive entry statement for visitors to Western Australia.

The station will also be home to the longest uninterrupted escalator in the southern hemisphere at 35m long and 15m high.

Tiling of the station platform will start soon, with track laying currently under way in the adjacent tunnels.

Once operational, Airport Central will significantly change travel to and from Perth Airport, and provide travellers and airport workers a direct 18-minute train journey to the CBD for the cost of a two-zone ticket.
