Progress continues on the Yanchep Rail Extension as the Public Transport Authority (PTA) has submitted the Yanchep Rail Extension: Part 2 – Eglinton to Yanchep Public Environmental Review to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA).
Yanchep Rail Extension: Part 2 - Eglinton to Yanchep focuses on an area of the project from north of Eglinton Station to Yanchep Station. It is currently available for public review and on the EPA’s website. The closing date for public submissions is July 8, 2019.
The proposal (EPBC 2018/8262) has also been determined to be a controlled action under the federal Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 and is being assessed as an accredited assessment under the Environmental Protection Act 1986.
The Yanchep Rail Extension was planned for years as part of a long-term vision for Perth’s north-west corridor as it will provide a viable alternative to private vehicles; improve public transport service times; and increase mobility to strategic metropolitan centres, including Yanchep and Joondalup.
The project team have worked to minimise environmental impacts as much as possible and will manage construction of the Yanchep Rail Extension: Part 2—Eglinton to Yanchep in accordance with all necessary environmental approvals.
Update July 9 2019: Public review has now closed.
