Public Art

METRONET Public Art Strategy

Public art plays an important role in the cultural life of places providing social, economic and environmental benefits.

The METRONET Public Art Strategy will ensure the program’s legacy of transformative transport infrastructure links the projects together and the transport infrastructure contributes the broader place’s identity.

The program-wide approach will guide public art delivery, drawing inspiration from Perth’s Aboriginal and local culture, history, landscape and place. Artists will develop projects for METRONET responding to the theme of “Our Pathways” and thematically reference Connections and Place.

Working with us

The Strategy is to be used by everyone involved or interested in the development and commissioning of public art for METRONET. This includes artists, architects, art coordinators, project managers, contractors, local and state government agencies, working groups and developers.

The approach to public art can vary from project to project, depending on a variety of contextual factors. Individual Public Art Project Plans will be developed for each project and these will be available on our website.
