METRONET Sustainability Strategy

METRONET contributes to Perth’s sustainable future by offering people alternative and sustainable travel choices and supporting more diverse and compact communities around transport nodes.

The METRONET Sustainability Strategy outlines how the program and projects maximises these positive environmental, social and economic outcomes.

The Strategy provides a framework for transport infrastructure and station precinct projects throughout the planning, procurement, design and construction phases.

Commitment Statement

METRONET Projects will support:

  • Development of sustainable station precincts
  • Enabling a positive change in how people live, work and travel across Perth
  • Greater use of public transport as a sustainable travel option
  • The key sustainability concepts and vision for Perth and Peel @3.5million
  • Relevant targets set out in ‘Our Priorities: Sharing Prosperity’

The Strategy’s targets include water sensitive design and increasing water efficiency, both of which are part of the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation’s Waterwise Perth Action Plan.
