Waiting at a level crossing will soon be a thing of the past for Kelmscott residents as removing the notorious Denny Avenue level crossing moves another step closer.
Downer EDI was announced as the preferred proponent for both rail (in December 2019) and road (in February 2020) works of the project and has now officially signed the design and construction contract.
The project will replace the Denny Avenue level crossing with a rail-over-road underpass at Davis Road, 170m south of Denny Avenue. The revitalisation of Kelmscott’s town centre also forms part of the works with tree planting and landscaping, and various road and access changes.
Preparatory works have been underway since late last year and other works including utility relocations will start mid this year.
Denny Avenue Level Crossing Removal is the first of up to seven level crossing removals under METRONET’s program of works on the Armadale Line.
