ADCO Constructions has today been named the preferred contractor to design and build Lakelands Station.
The future station will be built seven kilometres north of Mandurah Station, with car park access off Ashwood Parkway and bus access from Lake Valley Drive. The contract includes building the new train station, a bus interchange, car park and associated infrastructure, with works starting in 2021.
The new station, to open in 2023, is expected to see around 2300 daily boardings, servicing the growing suburbs of Lakelands, Madora Bay, Meadow Springs and surrounds.
During the works to build Lakelands Station, it will support around 200 jobs.
A Community Reference Group for the project was formed in October, which will provide a local point of view for the project team as design and construction progresses.
The project is jointly funded by the State and Commonwealth Governments, with 80% being provided by the Commonwealth Government.
