Another big year comes to an end

  • 23 December 2020

In what was a challenging year on many fronts, it was full steam ahead on METRONET projects.

We started 2020 looking for a builder for the Morley-Ellenbrook Line and ended with enabling works underway and a contractor on board.

In between our project teams were busy! The first half of the year saw construction start on the future home of the C-Series Railcars at the Bellevue Railcar Facility, site works commence on the Yanchep Rail Extension and elevated rail announced as the preferred solution to remove level crossings on the Armadale line.

On the Forrestfield-Airport Link tunnelling was complete, the first track was laid and the final stop on the future Airport Line was officially named High Wycombe Station.

The second half of the year saw no signs of slowing. Site investigations started at Lakelands Station and works kicked off on the Mandurah Station Multi-Storey Carpark. The final designs were released for Bayswater Station and procurement was underway for the Midland Station, Byford Rail Extension and Level Crossing Removals projects.

Watch our short video below to see even more milestones achieved in 2020.

2021 is gearing up to be even bigger, with 10 METRONET projects under construction.
