Rain doesn’t dampen the METRONET spirit

  • 5 November 2021

Perth may have just experienced its wettest October in 50 years, but that hasn’t slowed down these METRONET projects!

It’s been busy at the New Bayswater Station, with works beginning on Whatley Crescent to relocate a sewer pressure main and build the new Bayswater Bridge. Pillars for the new bridge also arrived onsite, coming in at an impressive 2.9m high and 15t each.

On the Morley-Ellenbrook Line, Whiteman Park Station was in the spotlight with the unveiling of new station renders, and for a treat just in time for Halloween the Morley Station Precinct Concept Master Plan was released, outlining the vision for a vibrant urban village in the areas surrounding the future station.

The rain didn’t stop things progressing at Lakelands Station as bulk earth works continued through the month. Further up the Mandurah Line works continued on extending the platform at Cockburn Central Station to allow for the future Thornlie-Cockburn Link services.

Up in Yanchep the team were out in the community, joining the City of Wanneroo at A Splendid Day Out to talk about progress on the Yanchep Rail Extension, including the pouring of over 4,800m3 of concrete for retaining walls at Alkimos Station.

The Claremont Station Project went back to school with an art class held at Scotch College by local artist Jennie Nayton as part of her public art work on the project, while High Wycombe gained a new installation in the form of one of the Tunnel Boring Machine cutterheads used on the Forrestfield-Airport Link.
