Over 500 local community members came together on Sunday 1 May to celebrate the opening of the new Kelmscott Station Plaza, with festivities for all ages at the Celebrate Kelmscott Fun Day.
The new plaza was transformed into an action-packed hub complete with face painting, roving entertainers, and giant bubbles for the kids, highlighting the new vibrant community area which was refurbished under the METRONET Denny Avenue Level Crossing Removal Project.
Attendees were treated to a free sausage sizzle from the Kelmscott Primary School P&C and an ice-cream van – keeping everyone cool on the sunny day. Visitors also took up the opportunity for a sneak peek inside the historic and newly renovated Station Master’s House which showcased a ‘Proudly Goolamup’ exhibition from local photographers.
The fun-filled event marked the launch of the Buy Local, Celebrate Kelmscott rewards program where residents can win up to $1,000 of shopping vouchers.
