Lifting Lakelands Station into place

  • 1 March 2022

Excitement is building within the Lakelands community with the future METRONET Lakelands Station nearing another significant milestone.

Next month, a 15.5m long, 5.5m wide and approximately 50-tonne concourse bridge will be lifted into place, servicing the walk to-and-from the platforms when the station opens in 2023.

The station’s entrance and elevator shaft structures are well and truly underway, with the team working hard to lift 60 pre-cast concrete panels to support the entrance and bus interchange buildings.

Although you might not be able to see it, works are also continuing below ground with track drainage, electrical services, and stormwater pipe work. These essential works will facilitate the above ground structure.

The future Mandurah Line station, which is located between Warnbro and Mandurah stations, will give residents another public transport option with the journey to Perth expected to take around 50 minutes.
