Housing Diversity Pipeline to boost social housing and support jobs

  • 18 February 2022

The Housing Diversity Pipeline is launching to encourage new developments and bring more housing choices to Western Australia.

Investment in rail and stations across all METRONET projects will be the catalyst to turn some 8,000 hectares of land around new stations into desirable places for people to live, work and play.

This pipeline has been established to encourage new developments adjacent to METRONET stations and transport corridors. These precincts play a major role in shaping our communities and generating greater investment in not just housing, but local jobs and services for our communities, stimulating growth and opportunity.

This program is targeted at delivering greater housing diversity and increasing the availability of social housing.

Under the new process, developers, builders and community housing providers will be invited to participate in a registration of interest process, which close on Friday 18 March.

This gives industry the chance to put forward their ideas on how the sites could be developed and what new housing opportunities can be explored.

Among the sites, are four within walking distance to the Forrestfield-Airport Link and Denny Avenue Level Crossing Removal:
•    Albany Highway, Kelmscott;
•    Merrifield Avenue, Kelmscott;
•    Future High Wycombe Station Precinct, High Wycombe; and
•    Brearley Avenue, Redcliffe.
