The long-anticipated METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook line has run its first test train. The 21-kilometer line will connect the north-eastern suburbs to train services, offering transport options to the Airport and broader Perth train network.
Before passenger services commence, a rigorous testing program will be undertaken to ensure all infrastructure and systems are tested for safety and comfort. The testing will take place over a three-week period and is geared towards ensuring that the Morley-Ellenbrook line is operating efficiently, and trains will run safely and smoothly.
The project will deliver five new stations, with Ellenbrook and Ballajura Stations already complete, two road bridges, one rail bridge, three pedestrian underpasses, two viaducts and one portal.
When passenger services commence in late 2024 it will be a 30-minute journey from Ellenbrook to Perth, a 25-minute journey from Whiteman Park to Perth, a 21-minute journey from Ballajura to Perth, an 18 -minute journey from Noranda to Perth, and a 15-minute journey from Morley to Perth.
Timetables for train services and the supporting bus network for surrounding suburbs will be released later this year, prior to the commencement of passenger services.
New and amended bus routes will support the new stations, community consultation is now open.
