Designs for the new METRONET Midland Station have been released with the station’s new home closer to the heart of the Midland Town Centre.
The new station will be a landmark for Midland, featuring a contemporary design reflecting the local Noongar culture and landscape against the industrial backdrop of the Midland Railway Workshops.
The new station will improve connections to Midland Gate Shopping Centre and Midland Health Campus, while maintaining the railway’s central role to enhance work opportunities and community life in the area.
The updated design includes increasing the number of parking bays from around 600 to 800 in the multi-storey car park, making it easier for people to get on a train to the CBD or Airport.
Early site investigation began in mid-2022, including preparations to relocate an English oak tree and major works are expected to begin in the middle of this year.
The project will also connect the Midland Line to the new Bellevue Railcar Manufacturing and Maintenance Facility and accommodates a potential extension of the passenger rail if and when required.
The new Midland Station is due to be complete in 2025.
