Not only is Forrestfield Station 50 per cent complete, it demonstrates the high quality of local and Australian made materials and craftsmanship.
Holding the station together are more than 100 structural steel beams and 80 structural steel columns fabricated by Kwinana-based company Pacific Industrial Company.
The roof panels have a special matte finish to reduce glare for overhead pilots and the roof sheeting is 100% Australian manufactured and supplied by BlueScope Steel.
Two 16-tonne escalators and lift frames have been installed and will eventually help to move an expected 4,900 passengers per day when the station opens in the second half of 2021.
Plans to turn the surrounding area into a vibrant station hub, with diverse housing choice, leisure and employment growth opportunities are also progressing, with the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority currently finalising the boundaries for the new METRONET East Redevelopment Area.
The 1,200-bay multi-deck car park is also on track to start construction next year, which will free up approximately eight hectares of land for future development.
