Ground studies underway

  • 28 November 2018

Work to find out what is below the ground across three METRONET projects is well underway.

Geotechnical studies will be undertaken along the rail alignments, within rail corridors and around surrounding roads at the Thornlie-Cockburn Link, Yanchep Rail Extension and Denny Avenue level crossing removal project sites.

These studies are carried out by Golder Associates and include core sampling, ground water testing and cone penetrometer testing, all of which will provide the project team with a better understanding of ground and water conditions in the immediate area.

The investigations, which are expected to take six months to complete, support other planning and engineering studies and will assist with the final design of each project.
