Community members from Victoria Park through to Beckenham are invited to help name the custom-built gantry cranes that will build the elevated rail as part of the METRONET Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project.
If you live, study or work in the project area, you’re invited to take part in the competition.
Everyone who enters a pair of names will also go into the draw to win one-of-five family tickets to the Perth Royal Show.
Tasked with lifting the beams and concrete structures into place along the elevated rail, each gantry crane can lift 120 tonnes.
A pair is required to operate together for the project's maximum lift of 140 tonnes.
These four-wheel giants are designed to minimise the project's footprint and help retain more trees and vegetation along the rail corridor.
