Local artist explores Perth’s exciting future with a nod to the past

  • 26 May 2021

Have you seen the new METRONET posters spicing up Transperth trains?

We’ve tapped into local talent and teamed up with Perth-based illustrator and cartoonist Nathan Richards to bring you this playful artwork.

Nathan’s Car(e) free life was selected from a host of entries from WA’s creative community who were asked to submit a poster design that reflects the theme ‘Connections’.

The artwork is a walk down memory lane, inspired by the classic children’s town playmat. But its message explores the possibilities of living a car-free life in Perth with the future METRONET rail network expansion.

Nathan is a Perth-based digital artist who creates playful content that sparks a sense of joy.

A Bachelor of Arts (Illustration Design) graduate, Nathan has over four years’ experience as a freelance artist, creating designs for print, advertisements, logos and children’s books.

If you would like to get your hands on one of these awesome posters, simply post a photo of the artwork on Instagram and tag @metronet_perth for your chance to win one!
