Last night Transport and Planning Minister, the Hon Rita Saffioti MLA, met with local community members to talk through the results of the recent Morley-Ellenbrook Line community survey and explain the project’s planning process.

•METRONET overview - outlining the 10 projects that sit within Perth’s biggest program of infrastructure projects.

•What’s involved in the planning process including what needs to be considered before a METRONET line is delivered?

•When will these projects be delivered? What stage of the planning process is each project at?

•The Morley-Ellenbrook Line project including current status.

•The Morley-Ellenbrook Line community survey – which was completed by 1,927 residents.

•Support for this project came across loud and clear with 82% of you feeling positive towards the project.  On a personal level, 77% of you feel the Morley-Ellenbrook Line is important to you personally, while 86% think it is an important project for your suburb.

•The top three improvements you’d like to see in your area are a train line/station, increased availability of public transport and more leisure and entertainment options.

•Concerns raised in the survey (which included safety and security and train noise) and how these will be addressed.

•Next steps including the awarding of planning and engineering contracts to help develop the business case, development of the project definition plan, environmental approvals and community consultation.

In addition to the presentation, the Minister answered a number of questions on the project. Thanks also to everyone who submitted questions via facebook. We’ll be pulling these all together in a summary fact sheet and will send out in a project update within the next month.
